Why A Girls School?
Research has shown that many girls learn best in a school environment in which they feel safe, secure, and supported. Some girls may find that atmosphere in the public schools or private coeducational settings, but the recent report from the Wellesley College Center for Research on Women, entitled How Schools Shortchange Girls, has confirmed what was already suspected from previous studies: Many girls become stronger academically, emotionally, developmentally, and spiritually in a small class that is not coeducational.
Middle school is a formative time in the lives of many girls, often laying the groundwork for future success. It is an age when a girl can become a confident learner if she is not overwhelmed by pressures to conform and compete. The truth is that many large middle schools are overwhelming to an 11-13 year old girl.
Our vision for general education is that neither boys nor girls be shortchanged. Clearview Christian Girls School is a strategy for not shortchanging girls.
The question is not, "Why a girls school?" The question is, "How can we optimize education for girls in early adolescence?"
The answer is, "A girls school."
